Being skilled at the piano, guitar, vocals, bass, and drums, he started recording backing tracks for his high school choir at the age of 15 in his home studio and he was hired to play piano in his high school’s show choir band during his junior and senior years.
As a junior in high school, Kevin decided to focus on studio recording and the piano. He started taking lessons with a graduate student in jazz piano at CalArts named Mark Nilan. He also took a few lessons with David Roitstein, pianist and composer and the Jazz Program Director at California Institute of the Arts. He has recorded orchestral and pop/rock backing tracks for various productions in Santa Clarita and he has worked with Grammy-winning mixing engineer Jim Scott at PLYRZ Studios in Valencia. In summer 2009, Kevin met Evren Goknar-Grammy award winning mastering engineer at Capitol Records-at a gig at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood. He has been playing keyboards in Evren’s band, Evil Maria since that first meeting.
At the end of summer 2010, Kevin had the privilege to be the on-screen keyboard player for the hit show Glee on Fox. He also was the keyboardist/musical director on an episode of The Office with Steve Carell.
In Fall 2011, Kevin met Hayley Brownell, drummer and jazz studies major at Cal State Northridge. He had the desire to form a serious band and soon after, he co-founded GrowYoung with his sister Shannen, Hayley, and bassist Nick Medina.
Kevin is currently attending California State University of Northridge as a Music Industry Studies major and his main project is his band GrowYoung. Updates for GrowYoung can be found at growyoungmusic.com
